Hello Mr Keane

By Luke Edwards on Aug 29, 06 11:22 AM

I'm off to meet Roy Keane this afternoon so desperately trying to think of a nice easy question to get us off on the right foot. The last thing I want is to annoy him on his first day in the job, the question is will he turn on the Irish charm or try to stamp his authority - not literally I hope - on the press pack.

I suppose it's a bit like an early tackle in a football match and Roy was not averse to letting someone know he was there after three seconds with a well aimed kick to the shin, or ankle, or knee, or groin! Don't take liberties and you won't get kicked again, don't ask stupid questions and I won't throw you across the press room again!

Not that Keane is someone who holds a grudge, oh no, not at all, that's why he hasn't spoken to his local paper in his native Cork for 13 years after they sold some pictures of him to another publication without his permission.

Lots of fun ahead I feel....

I'll let you know how it goes

What a breath of fresh air!
Having been in Roy's native Ireland for a week and far away from a computer (the place I stayed in still uses old Irish 50p pieces for the meter), I return to find a link in my e-mail inbox directing me to this wonderful page. Has it really been nearly 2 months since our last communication?
I for one am glad to have you back Luke. It means I can look really busy at work without actually doing anything other than post comments about how Newcastle are still 4 or 5 players short of a European place, how funny Sunderland's plight is and asking Boro fans to keep me informed of what happens in Coronation Street this season (although I fear I'll be able to catch up myself shortly into the New Year after our humiliating European exit)
P.S. I live in Newcastle and I like Rugby League. It might something to do with once living on the M62 corridor mind!!
Welcome back Luke!
