Leave God Out Of It
The United States Golf Team arrived in Dublin last week claiming God was on their side and they left with a sixth Ryder Cup defeat out of seven.
What does this tell us? Does it tell us that God cannot play Golf very well or does it suggest the preaching of their born-again Christian captain Tom Lehman was a load of old rubbish?
The funny - well not so funny - thing is, when Islamic fundamentalists claim God is on their side, Americans tend to bristle with indignation, but when they come over to play a game of Golf they claim the All Mighty is waving a stars and stripes flag with his golf clubs thrown over his other shoulder.
It might just be me, but I don't think anyone should be claiming God is on their side when, let's face it, God, according to the Bible and the Koran, does not take sides, he just tries to lead us on the right path - and not into the water or a bunker!
So whether you are insurgents in Iraq or Americans wearing baseball caps and a gloomy look on their faces after yet another thrashing on the golf course, please leave God out of it.

Totally agree with you Luke, The yanks would be funny if they were not so damn serious, the biggest threat to the world is religeous fundamentalism which has taken over a superpower, this American talliban needs knocking down to size to prove the point and I equate this victory with that of Jesse Owens over the third reich in Munich.
Someone needs to end the sleep of reason, and fast.
Like you Luke, I'm not normally a golf fan, but this was fantastic entertainment.
