I Hope Newcastle Haven't Been Sold When I Get Back

Posted by Luke on August 21, 2007 1:59 PM |

I've already had enough of the football season and need to recover after Durham's Friends Provident Trophy success so I'm heading off on another holiday!

Before you ask, I'm heading to Majorca for a week and yes I do sometimes work hard. As ever, if there is anything you want to get off your chest while I'm away, I'll have my laptop with me and will check from time to time. There might even be a poolside rant I need to have.

I guess the most pressing thing on the agenda at the moment is the persistent rumours that Mike Ashley is already looking to sell the club. However, we can only take what chairman Chris Mort said at face value and he insisted it was a long term project for the both of them. I hope he's right.

Then of course there are the new rumours about Obafemi Martins and Manchester United, although, and I might be wrong, I feel these stories about him are the work of an over imaginative agent!

Being in USA, I haven't been totally up on the sale of Newcastle. My son and I own a share each, which will proudly hang on your walls, I don't intend on tendering in the shares. There is an active Newcastle fan club in NYC, enjoy watching games live.

Note From Luke
Are there are any Toon bars in the States Alan? Glad you keep the black and white flag flying over there. How many people are in the club? Do you meet for all the games and watch them together? Bet there isn't a Leyton Orient supporters club though is there?

As for the sale of the club, don't reckon it'll happen just yet. It seems Mike Ashley's appearance at the Boro game in a black and white shirt was designed to show his commitment to his new financial project.

Mike Ashley's excitement as he got to his seat last night said it all, he was jumping with glee, rubbing his hands and grinning like a geordie cat. His mate beside him also had a Smith toon shirt on, not Morty by the way. I'd love to have seen him as the Owen goal went in, then Martins'. What a team we have now, still a few tiles short of a roof but it does not resemble that shambles of recent years. Emre must leave sooner rather than later, as he is nothing short of a liability. Forever getting caught on the ball, then racing back to foul the guy who robbed him. Writhing about when he's tackled whilst the game races away towards our goal without him, shouting his mouth off to the ref. Shay Given pushed him away during one of his rants about something or probably nowt last night. Soft Glen was fooled by him but you bet Sam won't be, he'll be a squad player from now on, especially when Barton returns, until January. Cacapa is magnificent, Enrique is class, Geremi is beautiful, Martins is our past, present and future.....and I've run out of superlatives, even laxatives. Owen is definitely on the comeback with great vision, lost a yard perhaps but so did Shearer. Luke.....I'm over the moon kid, come on Leyton Orient. p.s. sad they didn't play my song last night as I'd promised my little nephew who got in free thanks to that kind man who bought our club.
