Sick Note

I must apologise for my lack of activity on this blog over the Christmas period but I have been struggling with the flu since Christmas Eve and have had a pretty miserable Festive period surrounded by all sorts of drugs (legal) and snotty bits of tissue.

However, I am slowly getting back on my feet now and will be rounding up all the action from the hectic Christmas period on January 2nd. I'd do it now, but I'm driving down to Manchester this afternoon for my best friend's 30th birthday and I'll be hungover on New Year's Day, as well as full of cold.

In the meantime, I'd just like to say that the decision to allow Chelsea's second goal to stand last Saturday was the worst decision I've seen this season since Leyton Orient were denied a win at Leeds in October, even though Adam Boyd's shot was a foot over the line.

Nothing works, still full of cold and I crashed my car today as well, which may or may not be linked. Thankfully nobody was hurt other than the front of my car and the central reservation. Pesky ice!

read your article today re shay given wanting a winter break. i hope he was having a laugh. the season started in august by november the majority of players had 3 two week breaks.the premier league shut down 3 times for two weeks at a time in less than 3 months. of course this was due to international games (some of them unnecessary friendlies)all managers however had 3 breaks, all staff and the majority of players. the only ones who had to "work" were the poor little darlings who have the kudos, the status and the money as international players. professional football is played because it is supposed to be an entertainment. the vast amounts of money players are paid is only because of the fans supporting their own clubs at the ground or on tv. to hear players bleating they want more time off just epitomises the state of the game today. shame on you Given.

He did say in the interview that he could understand why people wouldn't agree with him! It's just interesting that highly paid players in other leagues do get a break and then do a lot better in summer international tournaments!
